The Girl Who Told Time is the second book in the Fillory and Further series, written by Christopher Plover.

History[]

From their respective boarding schools, Rupert and Helen Chatwin are abruptly shanghaied into Fillory, marking this as the only time the Chatwins cross over into Fillory during the winter instead of summer. They discover that they've ended up back in an earlier time period, one that overlaps with the storyline of the first book. With the aid of foreknowledge, Rupert follows the footsteps of brother Martin and the precedent Helen on their journey, taking care to keep himself just out of view and dropping clues to help them without their knowledge.

Meanwhile, the current Helen embarked on a hunt for the mysterious Questing Beast that leads her on a tricky, circuitous chase that winds in and out of the enchanted tapestries that adorn the library of Castle Whitespire, only ever catching a glimpse of the creature before it vanished from view again. At the end of the book, Ember and Umber arrive and firmly usher Rupert and Helen back into the real world as if they had never left it.[1]
