The League is an organization of students in Brakebills, formed by Plum Purchas.

History[]

The organization was founded by Plum Purchas, one of the Brakebills' students of Illusions, and gathered eighth girls with various disciplines, that met in a small trapezoidal study off the West Tower, that was far from the wards , and mostly imposed their justice on others by pranking them. In enlisting the members, Plum told them that it was "a glorious old Brakebills tradition", which wasn't based on truth but seemed predictable to her as the school had been built long ago. Although she had gotten the idea from a P.G. Wodehouse story, it was later confirmed that there was a group of girls in the Revolutionary-era that Plum thought were like The League.

The most noticeable action of the League was the prank done to Wharton, the fourth year student in charged with delivering wine every meal to the Finns, which lead to Plum's expulsion. This prank was organized because Wharton was not giving the right amount of wine at dinners, which for the League was a sinful crime. So, with a needlessly complex plan arranged by them, Plum took a silver pencil case, that resembled a cigarette case, from the boy, and planned to infiltrate the wine room and negotiate, the pencil case for an explanation why he was pouring less wine than he should. This was not achieved, as when Plum used the secret passage from the teachers' room to the wine room, Alice, at the time a Niffin, interceded and made her travel between space-time continuums.

Plum was expelled from Brakebills but the League continued, and they even added Wharton to the organization, saying that they let bygones be bygones.[1]
